Why are all underdrive pulley kits the same? They include Water Pump, Crank and Alternator pulleys, but neglect the biggest power robbing accessory of them all: Power Steering.
We've seen the power steering pump draw 15-20 rwhp on the dyno.
This pulley fixes that problem. Sure, it doesn't entirely eliminate the drag from the PS pump, but you still have power steering for driving on the street. Unlike regular underdrives, this won't make your mustang run hotter, or reduce charging, it simply frees up horsepower lost to parasitic drag. The stock Ford steering is so overpowered, we've even heard this pulley actually improves steering feel.
Our customers have reported gains ranging from .05 to .1 in the quarter mile and added power on the dyno with this simple modification. This is the cheapest horsepower you'll ever buy. Take the extra step and go faster than the other guys!
It works with the stock pulleys or underdrives, with the stock tensioner, or with the aftermarket tensioner shown.
This pulley is also useful when installing a Vortech or other centrifugal supercharger. It increases the height of the belt over the top of the water pump pulley where there are often clearance/rubbing issues.
Installation of this pulley and removal of the stock pulley requires the use of a puller. It is available as a loan a tool at most parts stores. Longer serpentine belt required.
